I'm Moving to Aberdeen, Scotland. Any suggestions about Aberdeen or the UK in General? |
Travel Info I will be moving to Aberdeen to work on my Masters Degree at the University of Aberdeen. I've been there once and would like some advice. Any suggestions about letting a flat (Near Uni), University Accommodation (Which are the BEST?), Food Shopping, Sports, Local Interst Points, Banking, and any other local info? Travel Tips Nothing wrong about aberdeen,there accent`s are a wee bit dif from us weegies(glasgow) & they have deeper pocket`s...lol. By-the -way in scotland you will find everybody are very helpfull no matter where you go.....we are nice people........... Check out the uni student union web site they will help you get started or will direct you towards affordable accommodation,bank of scotland/halifax,asda supermarket`s or safeway+aldi stores are cheap for everything,JJB sport`s shop`s,tourist info board. But most of all ..GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MASTER`S DEGREE........................... After you have PASSED....... Party like no tomorrow I hope you have a great exp. in aberdeen/scotland p.s If you ever get a break come to balloch,loch lomond,pop in to the tulli inn friday night`s 9pm onward`s ,I Dj there just say hi............................... Others visit Aberdeen city. com or tourist information , p s I'm from Scotland pack loads of big woolly jumpers and wet weather gear , lovely city great people but in winter its cold and wet ,only problem its winter in Aberdeen 9 months of the year , you will have a ball in bonnie Scotland First and foremost, remember the golden rule: What we call Football is known as Soccer in Europe! And you might wanna knock a tooth out or rub some black stuff on one to fit in. :o) (only kidding ya bunch of wanks!) Aberdeen is Gaelic for hypothermia! :P Aberdeen is nice, nice beach, good shops and decent transport links. Lots of student flats for rent and also University halls. Lots of banks too. You'll enjoy Aberdeen. It's the best! The Uni Student Union can help with accomodation ideas, but also check out the local property agency that covers all Solictors in the city. URL below. Plenty of banks in the centre of town, within walking distance of the main Uni building. You've got your choice of just about every bank. Check out the Aberdeen Council web site for details on sports facilities. You'll also find a link to the Arts and Theatre options. Plenty of big artists come thru town, as there is a massive convention centre on the northern edge of town. Big concerts are held there all the time. Do get out of the town now and again. There is some beautiful coastline to see, and some stunning castles and historic buildings to visit. One of my favourites is Dunottar Castle in Stonehaven.
