what you have is algea-use a hot water solution one gallon with 1 cup of bleach & 1 cup of white vinegar-rinse out thoroughly and let it dry out in the sun for 4 -6 hours-the refill -when it is emptied-open cap and let dry out for 2 hours in hot sun before refilling
