My brother is about to travel to India and I would like to know if he should be aware of anything in particular.

Bombay is safe in the day but I don't walk around at night. Beggars will follow tourists around asking for money at all the tourist places. If you give some out - you will attract a mob of beggars. Best advice is to keep small bills and change in one pocket and your wallet in another. If you have a need to 'tip' someone - pull the money out of your 'small change' pocket so they do not see your wad of larger bills. Before you leave the hotel - always have a wad of 10 rupee notes ($.25) in a handy pocket to tip - pay beggars etc. Leave your real money safe in your wallet in your front pocket. |
