There were at least 33 people killed in two seperate bus accidents, a famous journalist named N.S. Ayyanger passed away, though there was news of more trouble with flooding a few days ago, it actually improved in Gujarat, and it seems that the Chikungunya disease continues to spread throughout the Indian Ocean Islands - including hitting Ahmedabad in April. The death toll is pretty much being released as whole figures rather than area by area; in March the totals were 150+ dead and 212,000+ sick, with slum areas having at least one case of Chikungunya per household. It's a mosquito-born disease and despite the numbers is not yet considered to be an epidemic. |
