The more education a person has, the more likely they are to be able to work a better job. Help by donating books or tutoring. Get others to help fund a small school or local library. Anyone can give a poor person money, but helping them learn to do it for themselves will teach them, and their children. Treat the cause, not the symptoms. There are all levels of help--from the very small to the very large. Depending on our own circumstances, everyone can do something. The biggest mistake is thinking, "Since I can do so little, I won't do anything." There is such power in numbers. Just think what could happen if everyone just did one kind deed every day. Of course the poor need money. They also need kindness, to be treated with respect, and someone who will listen. These are things we can all provide. When we listen, we can then learn and form plans and ideas about how to help. |
