Currently how much liquid can I carry on an international flight out of the US? |
Travel Info I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere. Is it 4 oz? Does that count makeup like lip gloss and mascara or even hand lotion? Thank you! Travel Tips Nope. Its 3 oz (90mL) max. You can bring those items, but it has to be in a 3 oz container and you have to put them in a 1 quart sized clear, ziploc bag. You must take the bag out and show it to the screeners at the security check point and you must tell them what is in the bag. You cant bring more than 1 bag. Remember 311 and it short for 3 oz bottles, 1 quart sized clear plastic zip top bag (per traveler) and 1 carry on. Since you are flying out of the US, you have to follow the rules and regulations set by the Trasportation Security Administration. Source(s): www.tsa.gov Other Travel Tips Each container must be 4 oz. or less and fit in a small ziplock bag. I've never understood if it covers mascara and lip gloss, but it definitely covers hand lotion. It doesn't mean lip stick or chap stick. When I traveled, I put my mascara, foundation, lip gloss (not lipstick), hand lotion, toothpaste and perfume bottle in a bag. Since I was traveling with my husband, we were allowed two bags (one for meand one for him). It's 100ml or about 4floz. It includes all kinds of liquids, lip gloss, deo spray, perfume, toothpaste etc. you want to carry in the cabin. They should get into a (larger) palm size transparent plastic bag. In the checked luggage there is no limitation except the ones for flammable and dangerous substances. I find it ridiculous as after you get past security check in the international area you can buy anything from the taxfree shop without volume limitation. The rules for international travel are the same as for domestic. For specifics, please see the TSA or FAA websites. www.tsa.gov www.faa.gov A quick summary: You can carry any liquid/gel/cream/paste up to 3 oz (this is the size of the container, not the amount inside -- even if a larger bottle is half empty, they won't let you take it). Everything you carry must fit into a 1-quart size ziploc plastic bag. Each traveler can only take one bag. There are exceptions for medicines and other necessary items (such as baby formula) but they must be declared to security personnel before going through security and are subject to additional security checks. To avoid any delays, I would recommend not bring anything that isn't absolutely necessary with you and plan carefully before you leave home, making sure you don't accidently have some liquid in your bag that is going to get you stopped. Please see the links above for more detailed info on exactly what can and can't be brought through security. Remember, anything purchased in the airport after security is fair game and doesn't need to comply with these restricitions. www.tsa.gov www.faa.gov |
