What's a good way to change the date of your flight reservation without paying the $100 penalty? |
Travel Info You know, I'm not trying to con the airlines. I'm just a student, trying to get home. Because of class schedule changes, I need to change the date of my departure flight. I'm willing to pay any fare differences, but I think an extra $100 penalty fee is too steep. So if there's a way to get around this, one that doesn't involve yelling, crying, or other irrational displays of emotion, please share! Travel Tips You agreed to the terms and conditions of the ticket when you bought it. Just like you, airlines have to plan ahead to, so when you say you're going to fly (by buying the ticket), they plan accordingly. If you didn't want the $100 change fee, you should've bought a less restrictive ticket. When is this departure? The one (very small) hope you have is and airline schedule change, at which point you're allowed one free change. Good luck with that... it's like playing roulette. I'd say, just chalk this up to a learning experience. Others I think that your best option would be to look for day where you can find a cheaper fare, so that the fare difference makes up for the $100 penalty. These days, airlines are seldom willing to levy these fees. I'm platinum on American, for instance. I needed to cancel an award ticket, and they charged me $100 to give me back my miles... |
