I have a question about traveling by plane..?

Travel Info
ok, im flying to connecticut on friday...i have a few questions seeing that i have never flown before
1)can i buy tickets at the airport?
2)do i need an ID or my birth cirtificate if im flying in the US?
3)what are the security rules for airports now days? can u still not take over 20 oz of liquid with you?
4)to get your bagage checked...does that cost money?
5)when do i get my baggage back? when i get to my destination, or do i take it with me on the plane?

Travel Tips
1) Yes, but likely you will incur a $15-20 ticketing fee for speaking to a human. Call up the airline's reservations number and the costs goes down to $5-10. If you book directly on the airline's website, it will be without a fee. Other travel sites (like expedia) will charge $5-12.

2) Technically, no (I always say it's not a federal requirement to travel with ID), but it will likely be 1000x easier for you. The usual airline requirement is a government-issued photo ID (so a birth cert won't work).

3) In carryon luggage, you are allowed individual 3 (or 3.4) oz bottles that all fit into one quart-sized zip baggie. There are exceptions (like contact solution)... visit www.tsa.gov for the latest info. For checked baggage, there's no limitations (other than the usual "no explosives")

4) Checking baggage does not usually cost money, unless it's too big, too heavy, or you have too many items checked. Generally, it's 2 pieces max, 50 pounds each max, and can't be bigger than a 26" suitcase. Each airline has different requirements.... visit their website for details.

5) Once you check the bags, you give it to them to load it onto the plane. When you arrive, you will get off the plane, follow the signs to "Baggage Claim" and retrieve your bags there.

After all that, I have to ask... if you're traveling on Friday, you really haven't bought your tickets yet? If so, tip for the future... generally, the further in advance you can buy your tickets, the cheaper they will be.

Others
You can usually buy tickets at the airport, but online deals with e tickets are usually cheaper.
If flying within the US you need photo ID.
security rules for airports vary, check online for your particular airport. i would say that don't take any liquids in hand luggage is the best bet. the worst they will do is take it off you if you do.
It is part of your tickwt that you get a baggage allowance, check your ticket for this. this means you can check in up to this weight.
You can take your baggage onto the plane if it is within the airlines dimensions and weight specification. If not it will be checked into the hold of the aircraft and you collect it off the baggage belt at the destination.
Have you really never done this before?
You can always buy tickets at the airport, tho i don't know how "cheap" can they be. You need your id or passport, you don't say where you are travelling from but if it is from another state or PR then id its good enough but from another country you will need a passport. Regarding the security measure, no more than 3 oz. items, can be put on a small zip lock bag or just put it in your checked luggage which you have to pick up once you land in CT at luggage claim, and there is no cost to have your baggage checked, its a free service from the airline. When leaving CT just make sure you check your luggage inside because the last time i travelled to PR they were charging on the curve check in (outside) just go directly to the counter. Have a happy flight!
1. Yes you can buy tickets at the airport, however they will be very expensive. The airlines charge the highest prices for walk-up same day tickets. You would be much better off going through www.priceline.com or directly to your airlines web-site. When choosing your itinerary don't pick the cheapest, pick the easiest and try to keep all of your legs on the same airline.
2. You will need a ticket and a government issue ID to get through security
3. I think it's 3 oz marked containers. For all the rules check here http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm...
4. It only costs money if you are checking more than 2 bags or your bags weigh more than 50 lbs.
5. You will check your bags to your final destination. They will be automatically transfered so you do not have to pick them up between flights. You will get a claim ticket when you check your bags. It should have the airport code of your final destination city on it as well as numbers used for tracking your bags.
