Cheep ticket for students??????? |
Travel Info I'm a college student I'm looking for a cheep way to travel? I was told some airlines have cheep tickets available if you don't care when you travel. Travel Tips mainly the cheapest way to fly, especially since you are a student, i understand; is to fly standby, standby, is where you show up to an airport of choice, and tell the person at the desk you would like to catch a standby flight. Standby flights are when seats on a plane haven't been booked and you are taking them. You pay for segments, which is one take off and one landing, each segment is around $20-39 depending on the airline, you can either pay with your credit card, or you can pay later around 90 days. Standby is last minute booking, but I must warn you that there are somedays where it might not be great to fly standby as for some days, every flight is fully packed. Sunday you should most definately stay away from flying standby. Others Try http://www.bbcarefreetravel.com... they have all airlines and rates to choose from. Good Luck!! There are different travel agencies that cater to students. They are able to sell airline tickets to students (and people under 25 or 26) for really, really cheap because they buy in bulk from the airlines themselves. I'll list some of the websites below. Check them out and see which one can give you the lowest fare. In general though, for anyone, it's cheaper to travel in the off season. Summer and holidays jack the prices up so high it's ridiculous. Surprisingly, it's also cheaper to fly during certain days of the week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are usually cheaper than any other day. Also, just asking everyone everywhere if they give student discounts can get you some cool concessions. Try everything you can because I know how hard it is traveling as a student. I've been doing it for about 4 years now. Good luck! http://www.statravel.com/ http://www.studentuniverse.com/... http://www.smartertravel.com/student-tra... In the US and A, AirTran has a student standby programme, but it's not always the cheapest option. Often cheaper to book in advance. In Europe, SAS has student standby tickets within Scandinavia. Otherwise, check these "student" ticket agencies: http://www.statravel.com http://www.studentuniverse.com http://www.travelcuts.com http://www.kilroytravels.com |
