Is a airplane on time when it lands at the airport or when it arrives at the gate? |
Travel Info A pilot said that we are landed 28 minutes ahead of schedule. We then had to wait 40 minutes until we has access to our gate. Were we early or late? Travel Tips A flight's performance is rated in two ways, D-0 and A-14. D-0 refers to departure time, the time when the brakes are released on the aircraft. A plane can sit at the gate area for as long as it wants, but as long as the brakes were released the flight is considered an on time departure. A-14 refers to when the aircaft's wheels ar chocked, this is the official arrival time, the FAA considers an it an on-time arrival if the wheels are chocked within 14 minutes from the scheduled arrival time. So if you landed 28 minutes before the scheduled arrival time but had to wait 40 minutes to reach the gate you arrived at the gate12 minutes after scheduled arrival time so the FAA would consider your flight on-time. (40 min wait - 28 min wheels down before scheduled arrival time = 12 min past scheduled arrival time at gate) Source(s): I work for a major airline Other Travel Tips Gate When a airplane lands its called aircraft has landed and when it gets to the gate it says aircraft arrived. The time would be counted from gate to gate so therefore in this case it would be gate arrival. i think u where late cause u cant get off a taxiing plane At the gate. The flight does not show it has arrived until the brakes are set at the gate. |
