Does an infant/child age on departure or return determine the fare on a scheduled airline? |
Travel Info Does an infant/child age on departure or return determine the fare on a scheduled airline? Travel Tips If the child changes age between flights you need to buy two seperate tickets. ie. if turning 2 years old before return you need to pay for a seat on the return flight but not on outgoing. Others its the age of the child when they depart that determines the fare they should pay. example: if an Infant leaves the country at 22 months old, meaning 1year and 10 months old, and return back home at age 2 years and 2 months meaning they'll be considered a child, then they're still entitled to pay full infant fare, with no seat that is, upon the Adults discretion, if they want a seat then they pay the full childs fare. or half the childs fare, depends on the Airline too. I work for an airline Children under 2 years usually pay10% of the normal ticket value, children up to 12 years pay around 2/3 of the ticket price, children over 12 are classed as adults and pay the full price. Usually states 'Time of Travel' so that would indicate the duration of the trip. If its a return ticket, then it neds to be booked with the age the child will be on the return flight. Ask the airline that you are booking with to double check as they might have different rules from other airlines (and it could save you money). yes if your child is 3 before your return journey then you will ahve to by a child a seat but if she is not 3 then she does not need a seat |
