Me? a terrorist?!? |
Travel Info i'm gonna b traveling by air 4 the 1st time since '98. i'm not gonna need much so i was just planning on taking a carry on. people tell me that that'll profile me as a terrorist! is this true?!? if so then why? all i wanna do is go see some family members on the other side of the country n avoid baggage claim, how does that translate in2 "i'm a terrorist"? kinda worried. =P Travel Tips Obviously that remark has come from people who don't travel all that often. Many business people going on overnight trips travel with just a carryon. Just remember not to pack more than 3 oz of liquid in your bag and have it in a clear container - have your i.d out and ready and check in online to save you time... You are fine - dont worry about it Others Traveling with just a carry on does not flag you as a terrorist. Lots of people do not check bags. If you say so HAHA! Sorry for laughing but inless you act like you have something to hide they should def. not thinking your a terrorist...I am a travel agent and I book business travel and i book trips for people going to day only and they only take a carryon...no worries inless your hiding something! Are you? Just kidding, traveling with just carry on luggage will not in itself necessarily designate you for extra scrutiny. I believe that when you combine only carry-on luggage with things like paying cash for your ticket, last minute purchase, purchasing a one-way ticket, having a name like Osama, behaving suspiciously and any other behaviour or "red flag" type of activity will you be targeted for further scrutiny. On most domestic flights, probably half the people only bring carry-on bags. I understand, some people are chosen at random for further scrutiny, it's just part of flying these days. If you've got nothing to hide, it shouldn't be a problem even if you are "chosen" for extra questioning or extensive searching. Good luck! Just bring what you need and bring what you want.. if you are stopped and questioned be very polite and helpful - they are doing their job and it is a job you want them to do - make it easy for them and if you only have a carry-on, even if they search you it won't be more than a minute.. I travel regularly and with increased security I get checked often - just not a big deal anymore and nothing to worry about... there is a certain extra amt of scrutiny that everyone must go through - so, when they ask you to take off your shoes, just relax and do it.. I agree with the first poster... sounds like someone told you that who doesn't travel. Heck, lots of people only travel with just one carry-on. I stand behind them in the security line! |
