An airline that i can take my rabbit on ? |
Travel Info I will be moving back to California flying on an airplane with my rabbit but i dont know a GOOD airline that will let a rabbit on the plane thanks Travel Tips I shipped rabbits from Ohio to San Diego and used Frontier Airlines. They have to be checked as cargo, and they'll need a health certificate. Some airlines won't ship animals in their cargo holds if the weather is either too hot or too cold. This time of year should be OK, but check first. Delta Airlines also ships rabbits, but Frontier was cheaper. About $75, compared to $150 for Delta. Put your rabbit in a carry cage with a solid top, and give him lots of fresh hay and some carrots and some apple slices. He'll get all the water he needs from the carrots and apples. A water bottle will leak and the water bowl will spill. He can go all day without a fresh drink of water if you supply something else. Your rabbit will do just fine on the plane. Being in the cargo hold will be easier on him than in the cabin. There are people talking, babies crying, you fussing over him, etc, etc. Just let him hunker down in his carrier, in the cargo hold, where he doesn't get to hear all the humans make noise. Other Travel Tips Continental Airlines In-cabin Pets Continental allows domesticated cats, dogs, pet rabbits and household birds to be carried in the aircraft cabin on most U.S. domestic flights. American and United do not allow rabbits Recently a lot of airlines have changed their rules about pets. But do not be discouraged. I flew home recently with my cat, and we used Frontier. I think Air Tran might also allow pets. just browse some of their web sites and check it out. All you really need is an approved pet carrier to take the animal. Some airlines do require a current (meaning within 30 days of travel) medical certificate that guarantees they have all the shots required. 12 years in the aviation industry. |
