What are tannoys in flights talk about. I'll explain below...? |
Travel Info When your flight is about to take-off, about to land or has just landed, you get a purser or air steward speaking on a tannoy to the passengers on the plane. What does that purser on the tannoy talking about? What does the purser on the tannoy actually say? Can you please explain. Thank you very much. Travel Tips Well, I've heard of pursers on commercial airline flights all the time on American, United, Southwest, and even US Air. I have not, however, heard of a "tannoy" ... Others The inflight announcements at the beginning of a flight, before you take off, are usually instructions from the flight attendants about how to properly fasten your lap belt, what to do in case of an emergency and things along those lines. During the flight, the pilot may come on the intercom with comments about weather at the destination, what area the plane is currently flying over, whether the flight will be on time -- or really important stuff, like whether or not the flight might be diverted because of weather. Just before you get to your destination, the flight attendant will usually make announcements about what gates you go to for connecting flights. By the way, I've never heard of pursers on a commercial airline flight. |
