How much does it cost to upgrade to first class at the ticket counter on international flights? |
Travel Info Particularly on Northwest Airlines. Travel Tips I would strongly not advise upgrading for an international flight at time of departure, this could be tough. There is usually a long upgrade list for most international flights due to frequent flyer's who can qualify for upgrades. Depending upon the frequent flier status of the customer they may be even able to upgrade day / days prior to the flight. There are also Skyteam frequent fliers (from Delta, Continental etc. that may fly NWA for international routes that don't use them for domestic flights). A paying passenger will be taking precedent over most frequent flier ("non-revenue") passengers. If you want an upgrade I would call Northwest or your travel agent as early as possible to see what options are available. Many airlines (United for example) may offer an upgrade option at the airport if seats are available but there is no guarantee these seats are available. I am not sure if NWA even offers this option. If you have Northwest frequent flier miles or other airline miles (other Skyteam airlines) / credit card points (Diners Club etc.) that you can transfer over to Northwest's frequent flier program this is another way to get an upgrade. Of course you can upgrade at the time of departure if first class seats are available but get ready for a very big price increase over most coach fares. You will have to pay the change fee (if applicable to your fare) plus the first class fare difference. I would call Northwest as soon as possible to discuss your options, this should help give you the information that you need to upgrade your seat. I hope that you have a great trip and flight!
