Flying pets overseas....cut off date for hot temperatures? |
Travel Info When is the cut off date for flying your pet in terms of the temperature laws? Pets can only be flown under the plane in the cargo area as long as the temperature outside is not too hot or too cold...I need to fly my dogs from Germany to Texas soon, once I get my affairs in order. However, I was told by the receptionist at the vet clinic that after a certain date, it will not be allowed because of the temperatures. Also, in terms of my small dog...are there any airlines that allow her to be flown in the cabin with me overseas? I know AA will allow the small ones to be in the cabin, following certain rules..but they do not allow this to happen if flying overseas.... Travel Tips United has a restriction on short nosed dogs from 1jun-30sep for cargo and checked baggage. United does allow small dogs as carry on even internationally. The acceptance rules are dictated by the temperatures not the dates, so for Texas you may want to act soon. According to AA's website they have a policy regarding cold weather shipping of pets, but I do not see anything which eludes to a "too hot" policy. It states that you must have a signed affadavit from a VET if you are traveling to any location with a temperature below 45 degrees F. It also goes on to say that animals will not be allowed if the temperatures are below 20 degrees F at any location on your itinerary. See the link below.
