Flight time to Tahiti?

Travel Info
I am in Philly and I want to go to Tahiti. How long is a lfight. I am guessing I would have to stop in CA, but I do not know

Travel Tips
14 hours & 15 min on the outbound flight & 13 hours & 15 min on the return flight.

I went to Tahiti in April this year and visited Tahiti - Rangiroa - Bora Bora - Moorea. I literally saw well virtually all hotels (20) on the islands!

These islands are absolutely amazing and can't wait to go back there! It is that paradise that you don't think exists, but oh it does! You have to be careful with booking Tahiti, this isn't the type of trip you should ever try and book online yourself. This is a difficult destination to know and you can only truly know it if you have been there yourself. The thing with Tahiti is you can literally get a "step above camping" accommodations. So what you might think hey that isn't such a bad price and books the trip, then you get there and you are highly disappointed.

Depending on a persons budget your money will always go further in other places over Tahiti. It is one of the more expensive places to travel in the world. But honestly I thought it would be worse (as far as prices) than it actually was being there.

This is definitely a destination that has to be booked farther in advance than most destinations due to the limited flights of only Air New Zealand, Air France & Air Tahiti Nui flying there. Either Air France or Air New Zealand I believe is eventually cutting there flights there, but I honestly don't remember which one it is! Plus with the over-water bungalows are always the 1st to go. These properties just aren't as big as if you were booking Mexico or the Caribbean. Hey that is 1/2 the beauty of this place!

As the other poster had said with Regent cruises, they are a wonderful line that's for sure. But by seeing Tahiti by cruise ship, it just isn't experiencing Tahiti in the way you want to! You have to experience the over-water bungalows in Bora Bora as other islands have them, but aren't as good by any means. Some "say" over-water and aren't truly over-water again some of these things a specialist can help you with to make sure that this trip of a lifetime truly IS a trip of a lifetime!

I'm not saying you would need to contact me about your Tahiti trip, but please make sure to work with a travel specialist who has preferably been there because I will say that many agents will go off say a "vendors" recommendation when they don't know the area (especially for Tahiti).I know for fact because well it happened to me as well prior to going to Tahiti to where they recommended ones that weren't nice, but the vendors recommend them sometimes sadly due to hotel "quota's". There was one in particular I was very excited to see due to the ravings from the vendors and wow was I sorely disappointed!! Source(s): Travel Specialist - 8 Years

Well indeed get ready for a long one but it will be worth it!
Yes you will have to fly to LA first and from there on you can take either Air Tahiti or evne Air France. So if I am not mistaken the flight from Philly to LA should be around 5 hours and from there on it is another 7...
So enjoy it and have fun!
T
my wife & I did it for our honeymoon, also Philly to Tahiti.

Long isn't the word for it.

You will most likely fly out to LAX and spend the night. The next morning fly out to Papeete (Tahiti). The Tahiti flight is pretty long but the plane is newer and has the TVs in the headrest in front of you. Not just tv but games and such. I remember a trivia game where you kind of play against all the other people on the plane, in terms of number of correct answers.

If I remember correctly the flight time LAX-Pappeete was 7hrs or so?

Air Tahiti Nui is the LAX-Papeete flight.

Note I recently heard Air Tahiti Nui added a direct NY-Tahiti flight! I bet that's a long one though.

Tahiti is definetely cool. We did a french polynesian cruise on Regent Seven Seas (formerly Radisson Seven Seas). We did hear the bungalows over the water are very cool, what with the glass coffee table thing, but overly expensive.
