Anyone work for Delta? Buddy passes? |
Travel Info Can someone tell me about buddy passes? Are they standby tickets? TIA Travel Tips I work for Delta in FLL. Yes, Buddy Passes are standby only. You are placed on a standby list and will be placed in order of seniority. So, if you have a standby ticket from someone with a hire date of 1/1/07, you will not get on before a standby with a 1/1/00 hire date. Buddy passes usually cost you @ 10% of the full fare. So if the cost of a one way seat is $400, you will pay usually $40 plus applicable fees (usually @ $15 extra dollars). I have given buddy passes to friends before flying from FLL-JFK-LGW and they have received business class from JFK to LGW. Pretty nice !!! The person before this pretty much had it right on with the standby listings, but, one correction to that: S=(standby) S1 - Emergency Passes for employees (funeral and even company travel). S2 - All employees and their children priority passes (we only get 6 per year). S3 - All employees and their parents (we have unlimited S3 passes per year). S4 - Buddy passes and other airline employees buying a ID90/ID75 on Delta. I hope this helps you out a little bit. Source(s): Proud Delta Airlines employee. Other Travel Tips My stepmother is a flight attendant for Delta and I flew on her buddy pass last year. Yes, they are standby tickets and you are subjected to seats available on the flight. The Delta employee issuing the pass should be able to check on their web site for seat availability for each flight. When you get to the airport, check your bags and proceed to the gate for the first flight. After everyone has been boarded, the gate agent will then call the standbys. On a buddy pass, you are usually a Standby 4. The system works something like this: Standby 1 A - Employees with an Emergency Standby 1 - Employees Standby 2 - Direct family of employees Standby 3 - Other airline employees Standby 4 - Buddy Passes You have to wait until all other standbys are called before you can board. Sometimes you are issued a boarding pass with a seat assignment and then sometimes you just have to pick any available seat in the cabin. If you don't make the first flight, you will be automatically rolled over on to the next one. Make sure that you know ALL of the flights that are leaving out of your city and all of your connecting flights as well. Also try to standby for flights on larger aircraft out of your city if possible, as more seats will be available. Happy Travels! |
