Has anyone ever flown past mount everest? Must be quite a sight!? |
Travel Info Its peak must be almost the altitude of the plane. Did the captain announce it on the PA system? Tell me what it looked like.... Travel Tips We flew from Katmandu to Pokara on Royal Air Nepal. It was beautiful but to be honest, Everest wasn't that much higher than the other peaks in that region. But the whole view was spactacular. We were well above it, and actually not that close to it. When the pilots heard that three Flight Attendants from other airlines were onboard, he invited us to the cockpit. Wouldn't happen today! This was in 1990. Oh, and by the way, we were traveling with our benefits NOT working! Source(s): Former F/A, been to almost 60 countries Other Travel Tips Never been there, but I can imagine...wow. But I don't think they fly through that area, its not safe for passenger jets. i ha vent. it would be spectacular There is a "famous" film of the first planes to clear Everest - i think in the 30's - silver single engined monoplanes with open cockpits Bruce Dickinson (I think) an action photographer / film maker made a brilliant film of the first ballonn to clear it - he also did a film early in his career of an expedition to canoe down Everest's river I don't think a helicopter can clear Everest I don't know about "past", but lots of people must have passed it, judging by the number of aerial shots they're always showing on TV. yes. yes. You fly lower than the peak so you look up. Its the same with most internal flights in Nepal. |
