Flying without my parents? |
Travel Info Hi there, I'm 14 years old, a British citizen andI basically want to know the following about flying alone without parents/carers: 1. At what age can I travel alone? (without parents) 2. At what age do I stop requiring parental consent? 3. If I wanted to fly somewhere on my own, at my age would it be possible to do so without consulting my parents? 4. Does it make a difference if I want to fly somewhere outside of the EU? Thanks very much in advance. Don't worry, I'm not planning anything; I just really need to know. xxx Travel Tips Odd this but I was on the ryannair website only earlier and you can fly unaccompanied anywhere at 14 years old and the airline shouldn't have a problem letting you on. In the whole scheme of everything though your parents are responsible for you until you're 18. (17 if you're in foster care) It is morally not right for your parents to be worrying unnecessarily about you though however old you are. What concerns me more is your personal safety travelling alone at 14 years old. You're not stupid and Im sure you see news of abductions/attacks etc. It shouldn't matter where you're going if you've got a passport. Others you can travel alone from 15 but still need your parents consent till your 18. It doesnt make any diffirence if your flying in the EUor outside the EU but i would imagine local flights wont be as strict as international flights |
