I am traveling with my 10y/o son to Reno. Does he need a photo I.D. to travel or can he go under mine? |

Travel Tips Typically, children under 18 don't have to show an I.D. for domestic travel within the U.S. -- although it certainly couldn't hurt to bring along his school I.D. It's worth bearing in mind, also, that each airline decides the identification requirements for kids, so you might want to contact the airline you're flying with and double-check their policy. (By the way, I'm assuming you're flying to Reno from within the U.S. If you're not, of course -- making it an international flight -- then your son will obviously have to have a passport for identification.) As far as meeting the captain and giving out wings, I'm sure that also depends on the airline -- as well as what sort of mood the crew are in and how full/busy/turbulent the flight is! I can tell you that I flew with American Airlines at the weekend and the flight attendant let a little seven-year-old boy come up to the front of the plane and say "hi, Mommy!" over the loudspeaker. Other Travel Tips ususally if you're under 18 they don't require you to have an i.d. i'm 17 and they said i didn't need one. bring his i.d. along with you just incase. Why would he need a photo I.D. Reno is in the USA. You can't take him in the casinos, if that's where you're going. No ID needed if under 18. Most legacy airlines still give out little plastic wings. If you want him to meet the captain, make sure you ask the flight attendant right when you board, as no one can enter the flight deck during flight. Have fun! |
