Flying overseas? |
Travel Info I'm going to be flying overseas from LAX (L.A.) to TPE (Taipei, Taiwan) and have never flown overseas before. I will be flying with China Airlines on a Boeing 747 and I am kind of worried. Is it hard to sit still on a plane for 14 hours? I want to sleep on the flight, but I don't think I can sleep sitting down. The flight is also at 11 something at night. Does anyone have any advice, I am pretty worried about the safety, doesn't Taiwan have a lot of bad weather? Travel Tips I've taken non-stop flight that lasted 12-13 hours. I've found several ways to pass the time including naps which even for short periods of 20-30 minutes does help. Bring along one of those foam pillows you can find at travel stores. The pillows on these flights are ok, but I've found the curved foam pillows you can buy at Brookstone or at the airport travel stores to be more comfortable. Bring along an MP3 player helps relax with music you like os Sony PSP to play games/watch movies. Most of these flights have movies (depending on the airline and airplane itself) during the whole trip so between snacks/drinks, movies, sleeping, playing games, the time goes by quickly. Relax and enjoy the flght. Others take some tylenol pm right before you get on the plane. you'll be knocked out for 8 hours. i've flown overseas twice and yes the ride is very boring. bring a book. the plane will have movies and stuff. the pillows and blankets they give you are small. so i would bring an extra small pillow if you plan on sleeping the whole time. and the seats lean back. hopefully you get a window seat so you can prop the pillow up against it. but dont worry its not so bad. the experience of taiwan will be worth it. i travel long haul flights at least twice a year and its boring but I found the best remedy for me is to take a sleeping pill right after getting into my seat, it makes me drowzy and I usually can get in a short sleep during the flight. this also helps to avoid the jet lag from the time difference. but all in all every discomfort you may find during the flight, once you get to your destination its all worth it, enjoy your trip why don't you bring something to ease your mind like...a video game ex. psp, gba, nds) or bring a book to read...another thing you can bring is a mp3 player, laptop or dvd player to watch some movies! if you're tired, you'll fall asleep for sure... Have a safe trip! |
