Flying your pet to another state!!?!?!? Please help!? |
Travel Info Who do you call to fly your pet to another state? We did it with our other dog but that was like 5 years ago. I don't know What airlines do it, what the weight limit is, and all that good stuff. Please help. Thank you!! Travel Tips First check to see if any airlines has a direct flight to where you want to send your fur child. It is easier on the animal if it doesn't have a layover or have to change planes. The only airline that does not take pets is Southwest all others will transport animals. The cost is usually based on the weight of the animal and the crate. The airlines will not take an animal that is sedated. After you choose an airline you can go to their web site and there is a section under shipping animals that will tell you everything you will need to know. You will need a copy of the shot records and a health certificate from your vet. There are companies that will make all the arrangements for you but it's cheaper to do it yourself. I flew my cats on Continental it was $75 each animal each way. It cost me $300 round trip, which was more than my round trip airfare. :) Others You can do it with all airlines, weight limit is usually at least 50 pounds. Small animals can usually be carried on in a carrier. Go to the website of the airline you are flying for specific details, as they are all different, and have different fee's, which are usually at least 50 bucks per direction. Call whatever airline you want to do it, most do it. Two years ago I got a dog on Delta airlines. You can call delta. American, Northwest etc.. |
