Why do hotels and airplanes skip the number 13? |
Travel Info I've been in a lot of hotel's and airplanes and most of them ship the number thirteen? My question is why would they do such a thing? Travel Tips It is a superstitious thing (I believe the origin of this has something to do with the date of the crucifixion, but don't quote me). Hotels find it easier to skip the number than to deal with people wanting to be moved because they don't want to sleep in an 'unlucky' room. Ditto planes (lots of people get nervous flying, why push your luck). Interestingly, in many parts of Asia the number 4 is bad luck, and hotels have no 4th floor! Others 13 is meant for Tera {Ur's} 13 is the last day for the condolence after the death of a person in India. It's just superstitious. The hotels do it because 13 was thought to be unlucky. I am not sure about the airport but the numbers have something to do with the direction of the plane. some people are superstitious and are afraid of the #13 (friday the 13th) thats why some ppl think of 13 as the bad luck # Superstitions, weather its the hotel or the people that come and stay there, they seem to cover all the bases and just not list that number. |
