Worried about my connection time at airports.? |
Travel Info I have to make a connection to get to the destination. After my first flight, it only gives me 40 min to get to the other terminal for my 2nd leg. The terminal is so apart I have to take a terminal shuttle bus. I am worried if I can make it since I have to wait for a terminal shuttle bus to take me the other terminal. The shuttle runs every 10 min. Once I get to the terminal, I can just walk over to the gate. But the boarding time starts 25min before the departure time and that means I actually only have 15-20 min to wait for the bus, riding on the bus and arrive at the terminal. When I check in at the original airport, the airline should know I am making connection and I am there trying to get to the gate, right? Do they wait for me? If I miss a second flight because it took too long for a shuttle bus to take me to the terminal, what happens to me? Does airline (same airline as 1st flight) put me for another flight for free of charge? or do I have to pay the full cost? Thanks Travel Tips airlines dont typically sell tickets for connections that arent "legal" most airports have a legal connection time of about 30 minutes with the exception of some new york city airports and ATL. you should be ok though with 40 minutes. realistically 20-25 minutes is enough as long as u arent a slow person. and always stick to the moving sidewalks when given the option. the only circumstance that they would wait for u is if there are about 10-15 people connecting from your flight or missing from there flight, because sadly customer service has taken a back seat to on time performance.and yes the airline knows u are connecting and knows here u are coming from (what gate and what flight you're coming off of)...if u miss your flight and its your fault then they will make u fly standby, but if its because of weather delay, crew delay, or mechanical delay then u will be placed on the next available flight on whatever airline gets u there first...dont sweat it though...u'll be fine Others They do not wait for you. If you miss your flight, they will do their best to put you on the next available flight. Let the flight attendant know you have a tight connection, and she/he may make an announcement asking people to allow you to get off the plane first. As long as you are booked on one ticket it should be a legal connecting time and therefore they have figured out that you can make your connections. If you miss your flight because of the shuttle they should put you on the next available flight. (If you have booked 2 separate tickets then you may have problems) That is a real time crunch did you switch arline on the 2nd flight. If you have take a bus their. WOW. Your 2nd flight better run late. And the first one better be early! It depends on how many people from your flight is connecting to that flight. If there is a substantial number of people, then if you guys are late, then they will wait. If it is just you connecting from the flight, then they may not wait. When I flew southwest, they waited for me and my group after our plane arrive late to the airport. (They waited an hour). This was because a lot of the people on the plane I arrived in, were connecting with me on the same flight. In the event that you are late, and they do not wait. They will make arrangements to have you on the next flight out. I dont think that the airline would give you a later flight if you did miss your orignal because most airlines have a connection policy. Most generally have a 90 min minnimum connection for domestic flights and 180 for international flights so the airline probobly will just say to you 'you never had enough time to make your 2nd flight' If you had the 90 minitue buffer and you missed it because of a delay or something on your 1st flight, the airline may have given you a later flight without charge. You may have to ring the airline, tell them of your mistake and see if they can put you back on your later flight! Dont forget, if your 1st flight is delayed by 5 minitues, your screwed! dnt worry b happy! |
