What is my best option for flying to Chicago from Melbourne?

Travel Info
Is it better to organise my flight from Melbourne to LA and then organise a domestic flight from LA to Chicago? Or buy it all in one here in Australia? I need advice!! Thanks :)

Travel Tips
We frequently fly from Australia to the U.S and I would recommend booking your ticket all in one, especially if you've never flown between Australia and the U.S before.

Airlines like Qantas have partnerships with U.S air carriers - if you fly United from Australia you might be able to have your luggage transferred all the way through to Chicago without having to stop off to pick it up and transfer it yourself - all depends on how streamlined you want your journey to be.

Happy trails.

PS: Don't be cheap - get travel insurance for your journey - if you have an accident in the U.S and need medical treatment you won't get it unless you're insured.
Others
Get it all taken care of before you leave Australia - you really don't want to get stuck in LAX for any length of time if your ultimate dest. is Chicago. But if you have time spend a few days in LA - it's definitely a trip of a place! Chi-town is a completely different kind of city - very cool and mid-western, quite sophisticated.

Hope you enjoy your trip to the states!
