Hi, does anyone know if i can be refunded for a ticket if im due to fly out on Wednesday? |
Travel Info Im due to go to Jamaica on wednesday but due to some circumstances i cant fly out *sadness* anyway the travel agents is closed so does anyone know if its likely i can get it refunded? or get part of my payment back? Travel Tips Sorry for your sadness and that you can't go. An airline ticket is a contract between the airline and you. The travel agency dispenses and/or sells these tickets. They represent the airlines in this transaction. Getting a refund depends on the type of ticket you purchased. If you purchased a discounted airline ticket it may be non-refundable or have a cancellation penalty. This should be indicated on your ticket by a ticket code or the words non-refundable. However if you can't go because an immediate family member passed, the airline and/or travel agency may be able to work out something with you so you may use that ticket at another time. Currently work for a major airline 9years. Other Travel Tips call the airline, I guarantee they'll know the answer. the only way you would be able to get a refund is if the ticket allowes it. There are certain types of tickets, you will have to look. Check with the agent, terms and conditions I would imagine that if you went through a travel agent that a small portion of the ticket will not be refundable. Whether or not the bulk of it is refundable will depend on what type of fare it is. Many are non-refundable, but will give you a voucher for the ticket amount so you can use the money at a later date on a ticket from their airline. I suspect this will depend on why you can't go and will be an issue between the airline you and hopefully your insurance company. I do hope you insured!
