Are airplane bathrooms soundproof? |
Travel Info I have paruresis (a shy bladder), so my body hesitates if other people are around (and those back seats are so close to the bathroom!) or when I can feel the plane moving and I have to sit for a few minutes before a flow starts. Are the airplane bathrooms soundproof? I don't appreciate people listening to me peeing/muttering to each other about how long it's taking me to start peeing (honestly I'd rather they thought I was taking a dump than get questioned on why it took so long just to pee). Don't just say they're not paying attention, just saying things like that does NOT get rid of the problem. I have flown before and I've already seen all the shy bladder websites. I am not bothered by the supposed germs in the bathroom, I don't need to hear anything about that. Travel Tips No one will hear anything. The engines and air systems make too much background noise. Also, so many people go in there with children who are doing Lord-knows-what and women putting make-up on, no one bats an eye if it takes you two minutes longer to pee. Don't use the restrooms after the meal service or after the movie when they're busiest. You wont have to wait long though. Pick a lav where there are more than one, if possible, if you're on a bigger aircraft. For example, on a 777, there are four in the middle and only two in the back, one on each side. Go for those middle ones if you're nervous. Jump in the handicapped lav as it's bigger, if you can. I'm just thinking you'd relax more with more space and knowing that you're physically further away. Please though, see a doctor. There are meds for this condition and it's terrible to have something like this affect your life. Although you're not in pain nor is it life-threatening, don't have this extra complication. Source(s): ex-F/A Other Travel Tips If you are loud then yes people will be able to hear you, but I don't believe people will be able to hear you pee. they're not soundproof, cause you can hear people bumping into things. experience i don't even think they can hear u even if they try to, the airplanes iv been on all hav noisy bathrooms, or probably just because i dont hav enough $$ to pay for the 1st class. The roar of the jet engines and the air being sucked through the cooling/ventilation system is usually enough background noise to cover any bathroom sounds you may make, even passing gas. Generally, the same is true if you are sitting on the potty inside. After meals and right before descent, lots of people go to the toilet and crowds may gather outside the toilets. Try to time your toilet visits at quieter times, like when everyone has settled down to watch movies or sleep. Happy traveling! |
