I work for a major airline, and yes, you can bring your racquets on board.

If you want to get into the discussion of weapons, damn near everything carried onboard can be used as a weapon.

Just please make sure you know which type of aircraft you are flying on. Flight attendants hate it when you try to stuff something in the overhead bin that doesn't fit, causing a delay while you have to gate check your stuff

It depends on your airline. Some people have flown and have no problem with brining their tennis racquet's as carry on. But now things have changed many airlines list sporting equipment as a potential weapon/thereat and therefore must be checked in. Some major airlines list rackets (i.e. tennis) as "not allowed" to be carry on. Best thing would be to contact your airline directly.
