How much do you tip a waiter in France?

Travel Tips
Yes it's true, a service charge is generally included and you don't HAVE to tip. If it's not, the phrase "Service non compris" - service not included - is printed on the receipt, and then it's polite to leave a 10-15% tip, or if you've bought a coffee or small snack it's polite to leave the change, within reason.

I also used to tip if I particularly liked a meal and the service, but it's not expected. Source(s): four years living and working in France.
