How safe is the metro in Paris and what should i be precautious of ? |
Travel Info I'll be coming back from the eiffel tower using the metro at around 11:30pm ...is that a non-safe time?? Travel Tips personally I find it very safe but then again pick pockets are pretty rampant especially if you have a lot of bags or you are in or near a train station. I've only had one or 2 problems after living there for 3 years, taking the metro every day several times a day, same for my girlfriend. Mrs Jojo's answer is pretty good. The one time someone tried to pick my pocket, it was a group of young kids around 10 years old, late at night in an empty metro, some standing in front of me to limit my movement, while another one (behind me) opened a newspaper and hid his hand underneath to go for my wallet. But they didn't get it as soon as I found all this bizarre I put my hand on my wallet. If you have a purse, carry it on your shoulder, under your arm and make sure it is closed. If you have a wallet, I put mine in the front pants pocket (and in crowded places I tend to keep my hand there) and never in a jacket. Just have your eyes open, that's all. Enjoy the tower and Paris. |
