What to wear to Paris next week? |
Travel Info I am traveling to Paris next week with 3 other ladies. I am 45, fashion savvy, but currently mentally stressed over what to bring -- any suggestions? Travel Tips In Paris, the Parisian women tend to dress up a bit more than in American cities, for example. First of all, you need to dress for comfort. Comfortable shoes are a top priority. You will be walking a lot of miles (just in the Louvre) and climbing a lot of stairs...blisters are not fun. Women in their 40s dress up more than younger women in their 20s...the younger crowd wears jeans and the European sneakers. There is a lot of black in Paris...the clothes are fitted, sometimes a little too fitted. And some women wear tight leather pants to the grocery store. You'll see a variety of different fashion styles...just wear what you feel comfortable in (but please no track suits) and you'll have a great time. If you want to spice up the basic black wardrobe (it's true: Layering is a great idea!), you can always bring scarves and jewelry to add spice to your wardrobe...just not expensive jewelry. Or you can always shop for scarves and other accessories to brighten up your wardrobe. EVERYONE wears a scarf in Paris. And that's half the fun---shopping. You can hit the souvenir shops on Rue de Rivoli (across from the Louvre...one of the best places for souvenirs) and Galeries Lafayette...they have some really good sales. A coat is a must...it does get chilly. It seems as though black leather is the way to go. Also, an umbrella is a good idea. Source(s): Francophile Other Travel Tips |
