What is the best way to rent a car in Arcachon, France from the US?

I am considering renting a car in france while there on vacations this summer, what's the best company? Thanks

In addition to usual suspects (Avis, Alamo, Hertz) there are also Sixt, Europcar and ADA (ADA used to be very cheap, but I am not sure whether they're still in business).

I hope you can drive a stick-shift, otherwise your choice will be much more limited.

I've checked one of the websites (http://voyages.anyway.com/pub/agent.dll?...
- one week rental in early July is about 200 Euros (250 USD). Sounds expensivem but keep in mind that there are no hidden charges - this price includes ALL taxes and insurance.
