That depends on where you're coming from. Italy like the rest of W. Europe uses 220 volts and the standard European plug that consists of two round prongs and an optional metal grounding strip.

Typically you don't need a converter for a laptop or PDA charger, but check the fine print on the power adapters for sure. If they will use 220 volts then all you need is something to adapt the plug, but not the voltage.
