Travel Info How do Italians view achievement and success and what do they esteem and honor in someone elses's character? Travel Tips What do they esteem? Same thing as anywhere in Europe or the world . . . honesty, openness, a honest desire to experience their culture and country. A work ethic that shows that one works hard at work, but leaves work at work when one comes home. Italy is one of the friendliest countries that I've ever been to. However like most of Europe, smugness and flaunting success or achievement is received with with disapproval and disdain. In many European countries success is something that is determined more by luck than by hard work (or at least that is the perception amoung the general public according to polls by The Economist). It is important to remember that when discussing achievments or professional success. |
