Is it safe for an American to visit Italy?

Travel Tips
I, as an American, who has traveled to Italy many times (My wife is Italian) can let you know this: Italy and the United States are at very good terms. This was proved when Italy answered the call to help out in the Iraq conflict and send 3000 of their own troops. Now, you may ask if in Italy doing this, it makes them a target for terrorist? As what happened in London and Madrid, it shows that this certainly could happen. But, then again, it happened right here in the US and I'm not so sure we are that safe still today. What you really have to watch out for in Italy is immigrants that may want to rob you, taxi drivers and shop keepers knowing your not from there and try to charge you more for their services (just like here in the states). Funny story was when we were in Rome (Roma they say) and I spoke to my wife in english while she was buying a bottle of water, the man asked 4 euros for it and my wife yelled in Roma dialect that he was crazy (and probably something else, lol) and the man quickly said that he was sorry and thought that she was a tourist and the water was only 1 euro! For real
