Need information on train/bus travel between St Margherita and Milan? |
Travel Info Will be on holiday in SML. Flight home leaves from Milan at 5pm 13/7/06. Not sure if I should leave 12/7 or 13/7. Would like to make travel to Milan still part of holiday. Or either leave 12/7 and spend full day in Milan. Need advice on trains or buses. tks Travel Tips First of all, I would absolutely choose the train over a bus. The train ride is actually quite nice, goes through Genova first and then north to Milan. It's always better to take the faster trains as they don't stop in each small town and village. And don't be afraid to pay for First Class seats - you will be in a compartment instead of just the general seating and is well worth the few extra dollars (it's really not much more). There is food served on many trains or you can get something to take with you to eat. If your stop in Genova is long enough, get off the train and get some pizza at the pizza restaurant there in the train station (Stazione Brignole) called Spizzico. It is awesome pizza - very northern Italian! If you stop at the other train station in Genova (Stazione Principe), I'm not sure if they have one or not. I would definitely plan a day in Milan, although unless you're a model and love shopping for clothing and shoes, it can all be done in less than one day. Most of the major attractions are within walking distance of each other. Good luck - have fun - and have a safe trip! |
