Travel Info Why are the Spanish such terrible drivers when their drivings tests are amongst the toughest in Europe? Travel Tips Because you have "different" versions of being a good driver. American drivers tend to be very "rules" oriented. That way they don't get sued. However, unfortunately (sorry, guys, it's true), they generally don't have a great idea of what is going on all around them in traffic - because they *expect* that the people around them will follow the rules. In the latin countries, people just don't tend to follow the road rules. Hence, they need to be "better" that is, more observant, drivers to make sure they don't kill the motorcyclist on the wrong side of the road, or the guy driving in the middle of 2 cars to "make" a 3rd lane, or take out the person ignoring the red light. It all depends what you're learning to do when you drive. Hope that helps. |
