Is it safe for an american woman to travel alone to barcelona, spain?

I am from a village outside Barcelona, I have been going to the city on my own since I was a young teenager, never felt threatened, it's a cosmopolitan city and everybody looks after their own business. It's as safe as travelling can be, and it's a lovely city! Worth visiting! If you are on your own, though, there are some areas I wouldn't recommend for you to go at night, for example don't book your hotel in the area west to La Rambla (dodgy area called Raval), it's safe at day time, it's not bad at night either, but I don't think a woman should go there on her own when it's dark. Apart from that, as any big touristic city, be aware of the pickpockets!!! Other than that, enjoy yourself! RECOMMENDED! |
