Are there bull fights where they do not kill the bull!?

I was told while in Spain, if the Bull shows extreme heart that they may spare its life, but that is an extremely rare event. but Spaniards do other things than just bull fights, I saw in Peniscula,Spain they let the bull run around in a ring which has verticle bars (so people can fit through but the bull cant) men and boys come out and taunt the bull and get it to chase after, then hide behind the bars. (don't worry sometimes the bulls get even, like when the bull with one horn could fit between the bars, really gave those guys a scare)..but when the bull gets tired they just put it back in the cage and let another one out...other than that.. a knife is usually plunged into the heart of the bull in the final act |
