What is there to do in Aruba and Cozumel Mexico? |
Travel Info We are taking our family on vacation and want somewhere warm and sunny definately the carribean but what is there to do outside the resort? Will take any help from anyone. Thanks Travel Tips Aruba is a nice place. Its a small island that you can tour in a day. After that the best you can do is beach stuff, like swim, snorkle, parasail, jet ski, scuba, etc. There are casinos in a few of the hotels, not very large and exciting like Vegas or Atlantic City. There are plenty of eating places and good food choices, also great hotels. We stayed at the MAriott; it was a great place. Cozumel is the place that people go who want to scuba and snorkel. Its strickly a beach place. Not much to see. Our tour of the island didn't show us anything we would want to go back for. Which to go to? Aruba is further to travel, but more to do. Cozumel is closer, but not much to do but beach and shop. For me its hands down Aruba. Others You can oggle hotties. I wouldn't go outside the resort in Cozumel. Try Saint Thomas or Croix. Aruba Whatever your heart desires there is plenty to do in Aruba! If you like the sea, you can swim, snorkel, dive, sail, go fishing, try snuba or seatrek, parasailing, banana boating or any of the many sea activities available. If you are a land lover, you can do a jeep safari tour, visit the national park for a unique hiking experience or mountain biking, horseback riding, take a quadracer tour, rent a jeep or scooter and go cruising for a day. If you are a golf lover, you can always improve your game at the Tierra Del Sol or The Links course. You can visit the panorama movie to learn more about the island, rent a bicycle or even a Harley Davidson motorcycle. There are countless other great daytime activities for both adults and children to enjoy. In the evening there is something for everyone. If you like salsa and merengue, you should visit Mambo Jambo, Choose-A-Name and Caf茅 Bahia. If you like the more modern type of music like techno, there is Muzika and La Fiesta. For a mix of everything under one roof, Carlos and Charlie鈥檚 is the place for you. However if you just like to relax and enjoy live music, visit Chaos, Scandals, Garuffa, the newly opened Soprano鈥檚 or one of the many bars at the resorts. Fine Dining The delight of a different ambiance offered with each experience is an additional pleasure to be found when dining in Aruba's restaurants. International menus include Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Italian, French and Cantonese cuisine. For those who have families and need to have the kids feel as if they're at home with the foods they're used to, all of the popular fast-food chain restaurants in Aruba, including Taco Bell, Subway, Wendy's, Tony Romas and McDonalds. Local Cuisine Local Aruban restaurants are plentiful and many feature seafood, fresh from our Caribbean waters. If you're a deep sea fisherman, some restaurants in Aruba will cook and serve your catch of the day. Take a trip to the town of San Nicolas where you'll find Charlie's Bar serving the island's greatest prawns in a decor made from articles recovered from sunken wrecks (Click here for a VR Photo). One good place to get a sampling of local temptations is at the Bonbini Festival which takes place every Tuesday night at Fort Zoutman. Click here for some popular local recipes. Dinner Cruises A sunset cruise in Aruba can also include dining. Ships such as the Tattoo, The Balia, and The Jolly Pirates will guide you to a delightful cove to drop the anchor for dancing, a moonlit dip, and dinner in Aruba. The ARUBA PANORAMA gives a sneak preview of Aruba鈥檚 cultural and historical side through a panoramic presentation in on a 566 feet wide and 10 feet high curved screens at a 115-degree angle, creating a three dimensional-like view. The natural, historical and cultural attractions are as unique as Aruba's people. When the sun goes down, a whole different side of Aruba comes to life. Many hotels have large theaters featuring live entertainment that is imported from the US and Central America. Local Aruban musicians are very professional and are usually performing at "Theme Nights." These are popular in Aruba: on any given night, you can catch parties with themes such as Aruba's spectacular Carnival, the island's thrilling pirate history or the traditional favorite limbo night! They invite audience participation, so be ready to party down! Ask any local which disco is "the" happening place at the moment and you'll find all of the excitement right there. Try your luck at no less than eleven casinos or take a bar-hopping tour to the island's favorite local hangouts.Take a cruise on a sunset party boat that has a disco on board. Midnight swinging from ropes into the warm ocean have become a very popular thing to do. Shopping The stores of Aruba are stocked with well-priced imported merchandise.
