Travel Info Where a good place to camping in Georgia if you've never been before my boyfriend wants to go camping? Travel Tips Try Unicoi or Vogel state parks. They are good for all levels of camping and have a few hiking trails off of them. They are just a couple hours north of the Atlanta Metro area. Unicoi State Park http://gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.asp... Vogel State Park Others Just north of Atlanta starts the Appalachian Trail. It starts there and goes to Maine. It is very interesting, and the hikers/campers have wonderful stories to tell about their experiences. You don't have to do the whole thing, just camp there so you can say you've done it. Anywhere else is just camping. Cumberland Island nation seashore! If you are looking for mountains instead of ocean, Vogel or Unicoi State Parks. Rocky Mountain Project near Rome, Ga.
