Does anyone live in or near savannah, georgia?? i need to know what its like i might go to school there? |
Travel Info i want to go to school here but so far the apartments/townhomes i have forund look like they are in crappy areas.. does anyone know what this area is like good/bad? also weather, do any of the tropical storms weve been having effect that rea much??? Travel Tips Savannah is one of the nicest places in America. It should be simple to find something nice. Good luck. Others move there for sure it is a beatiful place and should be exciting and fun if you go to savanah school of art and design i have a friend that went there and he loves it. if you find the right area you should like it a lot you dont have to much to worry about when it comes to hurricanes it doesnt get hit very often and if so not so hard I grew up in Savannah and moved away eight years ago but I have to tell you that every time I go home. I really appreciate its beauty and the pace of the city. If you are looking for a party town then it is not it but it is a great place. Very beautiful. I lived there for 4 years and graduated from SCAD. If I were you I'd live downtown in the historic district. That is the life of the city. There are crappy areas but they surround the historic district. So don't go too far into the numbered streets. I also wouldn't want to live southside either, its rather boring. (What school are you going to? It might not be practical to live downtown if you're going to Armstrong or Savannah State) Check out this link, its to SCAD's newspaper, it's chock full of apartment listings downtown, you will be able to get an idea of prices. http://www.thecampuschronicle.com/classi... I lived smack in the middle of downtown, in between the River Street and Forsyth Park and I felt safe. Just remember that Savannah is not just a sleepy southern town, it is an actual city so you still have to use your common sense. It's a great town with an extremely lively art scene, music scene, and a great community feeling. I'd say go for it, you'll probablty love it. As far as weather goes, I never had to evacuate during hurricane season. This was even during the last years bad storms. They all seem to skip right over the coast! The only thing is when it storms, it really storms. Savannah is flat and the water doesn't drain well, so prepare for some wet pants whislt walking around. It is very humid in the summer and gets cold in the winter, only because of the insane frozen winds coming off the river and the ocean. Anyway, the weather isn't dangerous I wouldn't worry about destructive hurricanes. Hope I helped! Lived in Savannah for a few years. |
