I heard Atlanta was a pretty rough area to move. Is this true?

Travel Info
I wanted to move down there after I finishsed my training in the IT field in October 2007. Is it still prettty "old fashionally" racist as well. I was told two different things pertaining to this.

Travel Tips
It is a big city, so it has its neighborhoods. But not all places in the Deep South are racially agitated. Not at all true! In fact, many places that are key cities in the South treat black people like everyone else, and they are appreciated and respected as part of true Southern life. I think you will see what you choose to see. Atlanta is a great city, and a big one, so be careful like you would in any big city. Source(s): I love Atlanta

Other Travel Tips
I have been there many times on working trips. I liked it but I never checked of neighborhood's or schools.
It's not that bad. Really heavy traffic and you have to know your way around or you WILL get lost. It's like any other major city, you have your good areas and your rougher neighborhoods. I suggest you go for a weekend and see what you think.
No!
It all deepens on how you treat other people. If you come down here with your nose up in the air, like a snob, then yes. Now if you come down here an treat other people the same way you want to be treated, then you'll have no problem making Friends here. I know I've been down here since 1961. I was 14 back then,an did not know any thing about racism at that time. It was bad down here at that time when Black people & White people could not talk to each other with out looking over their shoders
like I say it was bad then from the 60's till the middle of the 80's.

Now you can talk an be frinds with them, but like I said eariler treat other people like you want to be treated you show respect
an you shoud not have any proplem here.
Atlanta traffic is alful but not anymore dangerous than any other big city. Atlanta also has a lots of diffrent races and cultures. As far as large cities goes I think it is a good one.
I live in GA
