I'm relocating to Atlanta....? |
Travel Info My husband and I have basically decided that we are relocating to Atlanta from our current home of Detroit. I have a few questions. What are the best ares to stay for reasonable rent? Also we will be depending on my husbands income until I find a job so how much money is suggested to have saved to get by until that happens? And I have clerical/administrative and management experience, I hear that the job market is great, will I have a hard time finding employment? Also both my credit and his credit is not in the best shape right now so will this impair us much? And I welcome any other information as well Travel Tips If you want to stay IN Atlanta, it's going to be hard to find a nice, safe place to live unless you're dishing out the big bucks. It's best to find a place outside of the perimeter, like Gwinnett County. Good prices and it's only 15-20 minutes away from all of the excitement downtown. I'd recommend getting an apartment for a couple months, so you'll have time to search for the perfect house for you and your husband. The average NICE 1 bedroom apartment is going to be around $700 a month. You heard right, the job market is great here. Go to AJCjobs.com to post your resume and search for jobs. It shouldn't be hard at all to find a job, especially with experience. I hope this information is helpful! Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions. Welcome to Atlanta! Others Hi, Im in your same shoes. Im relocating also. I have narrowed it down to vinings It is a nice area and reasonable. You can contact promove and they will help you with locating a place to stay and cost. Contact me back if you need more info. Im leaving tomm to look for a job. I can tell you how it os. Thanks! Welcome to Atlanta!! I wouldn't recommend to live "inside the perimiter" of Atlanta, which is inside the ring of I-285 - it might be too expensive or not the best of living conditions. You should live in Metro Atlanta, which is considered the counties that surround Atlanta (Fulton County). You should choose to live in Cobb County. They have the BEST school system in the Metro Atlanta area. Cobb county is affordable and there are plenty of apartments near by. Try Kennesaw...which is a city in Cobb County. Most apartment homes are close to supermarkets (Please shop at Publix!!) and malls/shopping areas. Congratulations. Atlanta is a great place. The best places to stay for reasonable rent are eastern Dekalb County and South Fulton County. You can get a six month lease and use that time to find a nice house. As far as savings, anywhere between $3000-$5000 is needed to be comfortable. I did it with less than a thousand. Admin/Clerical jobs are plentiful- you should find work at a temp agency within hours. Credit shouldn't affect you much on your apartment search so long as you did not run out on a lease with a property management company. Also, it is not like up north where you move into an apartment and pay first months rent, last months rent and a 1 month security deposit- a lot of apartments there charge an application fee- $150 deposit and first months rent. Buckhead, Midtown are the pricey areas Vinnings starting to get pricey, but I would recommend Cobb County look on www. rent.com for apartments and www.ajc.com for jobs check out this website... great house https://www.1337rivermist.com |
