How violent is atlanta? People I know there say it is.? |
Travel Info Does it just depend on where you stay. I was told that it was similar to philadelphia or new york. I really would like to start visiting my family. But I would like to know what I am signing up for. Travel Tips I am a Georgia Peach (Meaning I have lived all of my life. Born here! and hope to die here.) I suppose I feel comfortable here because it is home. I am a Real Estate Agent and travel all over all time of day and night. I JUST ASK GOD TO KEEP WATCH OVER ME NO MATTER WHERE I AM. To answer your question I feel safer here than in Philadelphia or New York and I have visited both places. I hope this answered your question. It is like stepping of a curb in front of a bus, all things being equal you and the driver will see each other in time to avoid a disaster. Source(s): My experience. Other Travel Tips It all depends on where you are in Atlanta, just like about every other city in the United States. It comes in at #17 on the Most Dangerous Cities, but Cincinnati is #18 and that is where I live. In Cincinnati there are plenty of places I wouldn't go at night, but the area I live in (and most of the suburbs) are very safe. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/a0921299.h... I was riding down peach tree street a long time ago, and I heard a blast and looked over and Right their a few feet away on the side walk this mans head had been blown off by a shotgun I guess blast, some blood got on my car, I drove on.funny though .It didn't bother me,It must have been the shock or something.of seeing his head going away from his shoulders and his body slowly, like slow motion falling to the sidewalk.like that.as long as the stay away from black neighborhoods you will probably be fine.My brother lives in the Atlanta area and I never heard him say anything bad about crime, I guess if you have to decide on visiting your family based on the "violence in the city" then i guess you have bigger issuses to deal with. Have you asked your family instead? Safety is about the checking your surroundings at all times, no matter where you are in the world. I have travelled and lived in alot of places around the world and you are not safe anywhere. Instead focus on what Atlanta has to offer, the world largest Aquarium, CNN, Coca Cola, Centennila Olympic park....rather than the negative. It can be but , it does depend where you go. I live in Douglasville west of atlanta about 20 miles. And Ive worked and "played" in atlanta. Its not as bad as some say but inside of I-285, even I wouldnt consider living there. |
