I live in Lilburn. It's not terribly far from Atlanta, though you could get closer. Lilburn is relatively is huge, and there are a lot of new businesses and neighborhoods going up.

cobb county, kennesaw, the only city in the US that has a law that states you must own a gun- less crime , acworth a nice place to live
I live in flowery branch which is about 45 min from atl ,but it's small and peaceful. If you like big cities try roswell or norcross. just north of atl is marietta and kennesaw all of which are about 30 min form atl. I haved lived here for about 6 years now and still haven't figuered out where exaclty atlanta is cause once you head up that way everyone says your in atlanta.
Peachtree City - 25 miles southwest of the airport. Plenty to do, and far enough away from the rat race.
