Travel Tips Moreland, Georgia was founded in 1888 and was named after a railroad doctor named John Moreland and use to be a town that sold large amount of cotton. Moreland is a small town with only a 1 and a half square miles and has a population around 420 residents. It is the home of Comedian Lewis Gizzard and author Erskine Caldwell and has two churches, a post office, a cemetery, a firehouse, and a few little businesses. I am not sure what kind of attractions they offer in Moreland other than Lewis Gizzard home, Erskine Caldwell childhood home and the Old Museum.
