Has anyone been to Atlanta's aquarium?

I checked out the website and that seems like the coolest ever! They even got a whale shark! WHOA! Has anyone been there? How cool is it? Is it worth driving from VA Beach to "sea"? lol

I have not been, but some friends have. The first time they went they didn't get in. They said if you are going to buy your tickets online so that you are sure to get in.

BTW, one of my fav vacas ever was going to VA Beach the week of the 4th of July. I went to the Marine Museum. Fun!

We bought season tickets for its first year as we have 3 kids. They always enjoy going, and there is something for all ages. They have a little aquarium-like playground for the kids to play if they want to take a break from the fish. The kid's section is great--very hands on. They have a 3-D movie which is great for adults as well as children. All the tanks are not the normal square tanks, but instead you really get the feeling that you are inside their habitat. walking under the large shark tank is great if you can really take the time to view all that it has to offer. instead of standing on the "moving walk-way" stand aside and sit and enjoy all the creatures in the tank over, beside and next to you. it is really amazing. Don't forget to take a picture standing inside the penguin habitat. They have lots of bubbles that you can crawl thru and stand inside. only negative--the lunch lines are terrible if you go during peak time. buy your tickets online, especially during summer or weekends.
I've been, and it's a lot of fun. My favorite part is a theater-like area where you can stand or sit and watch the fish go by. I want to tell you more, but I want you to discover it for yourself.

Besides the fish, there are interactive areas that teach you about their habitats and such, and there's a little section that tells you more about the "glass" used in the aquarium. How thick do you think it is? You'll have to go to find out. :)

Its great but is it worth driving 500+ miles, I dunno.

Actually, if you are here, definately! But I wouldnt drive or fly all the way here just to go to the aquarium!

if you are going to drive that far, drive to nyc and see the many sights in nyc or dc before coming to atlanta soley for the aquarium
The whale sharks ARE cool - but the beluga whales are even better - I could sit and watch them for days and days..

... and the jellyfish! Freakishly marvelous the way they have them displayed.. just wonderful.

And if you come through Tennessee - you can hit the one in Chattanooga as well.. lol
