Travel Info What are some safe neighbourhoods to live for a young, female student in Atlanta, Georgia? Travel Tips You didn't say where you will be a student. That could help to determine the best answer because the traffic here is HORRENDOUS. I recommend the area near Emory and Decatur. I lived for 5 years at Emory Woods Apartments on North Decatur Road. The rents are reasonable, and the facilities are well-maintained. The apartments are very old (built just after WW2) but they recently got new windows that keep drafts out much better during the wintertime. The apartments are mostly townhouses with hardwood floors upstairs and carpeting downstairs, central heat/AC, etc. Best of all, the rent there is well below market value. Craigslist is a great place to find other students to share a place with. But if you will be at Ga. Tech or another university, that neighborhood might not be the most convenient. Others Stick with the white neighborhoods, stay away from black and mexican hoods. If you're smart..... I'm being serious too, stay and live with a white neighborhood. I have no trouble at all.............................. Good luck... You'll probably want to stay north of I-20. southwest atlanta=BAD, northeast atlanta=GOOD. Stick with buckhead area northeast atl (emory, norcross and duluth) are nice spots...stay away at the 75/85 merge Midtown, near Ga tech, north of North Avenue. Sandy Springs, Vinnings, Druid Hills, between buckhead and chastain park, near Piedmot Park. |
